Draft, review, and negotiate contracts. Use strong communication skills (written and verbal) to work with all relevant stakeholders, including business development, finance, operations and client account teams. Address and advise on legal matters for the company proactively and as directed. Manage and follow up on inbound and outbound commercial contracts. Maintain expertise surrounding the evolution of data and privacy discourse globally, with immediate focus on US and EMEA. Develop and deliver an editorial calendar to publish POVs and best practices, with at least quarterly deliverables complemented with ad hoc publications in response to industry events. Participate in client-facing events to share state of data and privacy policy. Manage administration and resolution of legal issues that arise in commercial relationships. Help maintain Legal and Business Affairs team infrastructure, company records, and internal systems. Stay up-to-date and informed of changes to existing policies, laws, and regulations. Represent the Company in direct client negotiations, and independently review and negotiate client-facing agreements. Act as deputy to the Worldwide Privacy Officer in the management of the Company's Global Privacy Program, and lead initiatives to advance the effectiveness of the Company's Global Privacy Program. Own and manage internal corporate policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and industry best practices. Up to 10% domestic travel required for conference or industry events.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: LL.M, J.D., or U.S. equivalent in law, plus 5 years of professional experience as an Attorney, Associate, Law Clerk or related occupation/position/job title involving privacy law. Must also have experience in the following: 5 years of professional experience assessing legal risks relating to data protection and privacy, and identifying and advising on practical, compliant ways to mitigate those risks; 5 years of professional experience working with relevant data privacy statutes, regulations, and guidance; 5 years of professional experience implementing compliant data management solutions within a controlled environment to meet compliance and regulatory compliance; 3 years of professional experience performing transactional law with a focus on media and privacy; 3 years of professional experience at an advertising agency or advertising technology vendor; and 3 years of professional experience independently drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including licensing agreements, SaaS agreements, data licensing agreements, and Ad-tech related agreements.
